The Lexington County Peach Festival will take on teal overtones Monday in addition to its traditional patriotic red, white and blue.
Coastal Carolina players Mike Morrison and Connor Owings are returning to their home town of Gilbert to take part in the parade and sign autographs afterward at the event’s welcome center, festival spokeswoman Robin McCartha said Friday.
Both are coming back after Coastal Carolina won the College World Series Wednesday on their team’s first try.
“We’re proud of them, South Carolina and their schools,” McCartha said.
Both players are alums of Gilbert High, located in the center of a Midlands baseball hotbed.
It’ll be a different role this year for Morrison, whom McCartha said scooped ice cream on peach cobbler at the gathering last summer.
Pitching in at the 58th edition of the festival is expected of those who live in and around the town of 600 residents.
